Camera System Installed? Check, check, double-check!


A successful installation doesn’t end with mounting the cameras

Especially for you, we’ve created this quick checklist on #checklistday to ensure your camera system performs optimally:
🪛 Installation & Hardware
- Central equipment: Are network recorders/switches securely mounted in a controlled environment?
- Correct positioning: Are the cameras correctly aligned with the correct viewing angle set, and are they compliant with privacy regulations?
- Secure mounting: Are the cameras securely/vandal-proof attached, on a stable surface, and out of reach?
- Power supply: Do the network recorders/switches used have sufficient PoE power for the connected cameras/components?
- Network connectivity: Are all network recorders/switches and cameras connected and online?
- Cable management: Are the cabling neatly concealed and shielded?
💻 Software & Configuration
- Image quality: Are the cameras optimally configured for the intended application?
- Focus & Zoom: Sharp images across the entire observation area?
- Recording Settings: Continuous recording and/or event-based recording?
- Alarms & Detection: Are system events, motion detection, and AI analysis configured correctly?
- Access Rights: Are user profiles and strong passwords set up?
- Time & Date: Are the system settings and time synchronization configured correctly?
- Software: Are all firmwares up to date?
- Configuration: Has the configured configuration been backed up?
👁️ Testing & Usage
- Live View: Are all camera images visible and displayed correctly, both day and night?
- Playback: Are camera images recorded correctly, both day and night?
- Notifications: Are detection/alarm notifications received as expected?
- Remote Access: Is the system operating securely via a mobile app/browser remotely (port forwarding/VPN)?
- Backup (if applicable): Is the backup of critical data working properly?
🗂 Documentation & Instructions
- User Instructions: Was the camera system explained?
- Manual: Was the user manual provided to the end user?
- Maintenance: Was a maintenance/service contract offered?
